Zuma Has 'utmost Confidence' In Our Work, Besieged Floyd Shivambu Says
uMkhonto weSizwe MK Party Secretary-General Floyd Shivambu has dismissed claims by the partys expelled founder, Jabulani Khumalo, that Jacob Zuma is using Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla to deal with him.
In an interview with BizNews over the weekend, Khumalo claimed party leader Zuma was using his daughter Zuma-Sambudla against Shivambu.
This followed Zuma-Sambudlas profanity-laden social media rant against the Secretary-General earlier this month, for which she was twice forced to apologise.
Duduzile is not working in isolation. Zuma is part of her misbehaviour. Zuma gives instructions to Duduzile. When Zuma wants to deal with you, he doesnt do it directly. He finds somebody to do the dirty things against you then he comes in as if hes a mediator, Khumalo claimed.
He wants to deal with Shivambu because he doesnt believe that Shivambu is going to do what he wants. Shivambu is coming up with his own understanding and political vision, but Zuma doesnt like that. Duduzile is insulting people because Zuma has asked her to do that. Its an instruction from Zuma.
Zumas utmost confidence in Shivambus workIn a response posted on X on Tuesday 18 February, Shivambu said media platforms should not take Khumalos claims seriously.
Mr Jabulani Khumalo is evidently disturbed by the misconception of his role in uMKhonto weSizwe, which was founded and led by President Zuma, he wrote.
President Zuma leads all of us and has shown utmost confidence and support on the work we are doing. There is no self-respecting person who can take what Mr Jabulani says about the MK seriously.
Khumalo endured similar social media attacks from Zuma-Sambudla before MK Party expelled him last year. He also claimed she had forged his signature in a letter to the Independent Electoral Commission informing it of his resignation as MK Party president.
Arrogance and poor leadership skillsIn her first apology, Zuma-Sambudla cited her serious concerns about internal party matters and my perceptions of how certain issues may be handled within the organisation, especially by the Partys Secretary-General.
