Zimbabwe Protests Prompts Mixed Reactions

There has been mixed reaction to the protests and stay-away called by Zimbabwean war veteran, Blessed Geza.

On Monday, Zimbabweans across the countrys major cities largely stayed away from their workplaces despite calls for nationwide street protests.

Streets in the capital, Harare, were quiet, and most businesses and schools failed to open. Geza had called for country-wide protests against the countrys President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

"I want to thank you, Zimbabweans, for heeding our call to take action. The streets were empty. This is encouraging, we have sent a clear message that you want Emmerson and his corrupt cabal to go."

However, ZANU-PF spokesperson Christopher Mutsvangwa says the programme of action did not have an impact.
