New England Revolution have added another African to their roster with the signing of Alhassan Yusuf from Royal Antwerp for a reported fee of up to $3 million.

The Nigeria international spent three years in Belgium following his arrival from Swedish side IFK Goteborg in July 2021 and won the league and cup double with the Reds in 2022-23.

Yusuf made 20 appearances in the Belgian Pro League last season and was part of the Super Eagles squad that reached the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations final earlier this year.

The 24-year-old midfielder has now opted for a switch to the United States after joining the Revs on a four-year contract with a 12-month option.

Yusuf was signed as a season-ending injury replacement mechanism for Tomas Chancalay, who sustained an ACL injury in June.
