Youtube Premium And Music Price Increases Announced For South Africa

The price for YouTube Premium in South Africa is set to increase by around 14 from R71.99 to R81.99 per month. The cost of paid Music plans is also going up.
The popular Google-owned video and music streaming platform notified customers of the price adjustments via email this past week. It cited the need to continue delivering great service and features.
We don't make these decisions lightly, but this update will allow us to continue to improve Premium and support the creators and artists you watch on YouTube, it added.
This will be the first adjustment in six years. The last came in 2019 when the rand was much stronger than the US dollar.
YouTube Premium price in South AfricaThe Premium video offering will now cost R81.99 per month. Subscribers enjoy ad-free viewing and have free access to YouTube Music Premium , which competes with Spotify and Apple Music.
With this plan, you can also download videos to watch when you are offline. Additionally, you can opt for background play, which allows you to watch videos while using other apps or with your screen locked.
The Family plan will set you back R149.99 per month, up from the previous R109.99. This is a fairly large increase of 36. The Student plan is priced at R51.99 per month.
Music PremiumTo subscribe to the standalone paid YouTube Music plan, you will need to pay R64.99 monthly, up from R59.99 previously. This is a hike of around 8.
The Family plan for this offering is also getting pricier from R89.99 to R99.99 per month, an increase of 11. Subscribers will similarly be able to stream music ad-free, download to listen offline or play in the background.
Furthermore, they can switch from audio to video easily.
