Young Animal Lover From George Donates Over 3 Tons Of Pet Food
A young animal lover from George in the Western Cape has set a new record for himself to collect food for a local animal shelter.
Last year, 12-year-old Luhan Smit collected 1.6 ton of food and this year, he handed over three tons of food to Odin, Oudtshoorn Dogs in Need, an animal rescue centre which looks after hundreds of dogs and cats.
Along with his parents, Luhan goes all out to decorate their family home for Christmas every year.
He asks those stopping by to admire the display to donate cash or food.
Sometimes they gave me money, dog food, cat food or they just drove away. I love animals and the thing is Odin doesn't get any money from the government so it's an organisation that only gets money from the people from the city and stuff. So, I decided, let me help Odin and give them dog food and cat food.
