'you Made Me A Mother': Lynn Forbes Remembers Aka On His 37th Birthday

Rapper AKA Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, who was tragically shot outside Wish Restaurant in Durban on February 10, 2023, would have celebrated his 37th birthday on January 28.

To mark the occasion, his mother, Lynn Forbes, wrote a heartfelt birthday tribute in poetry form, reminiscing on the day AKA was born.

She recalled the joy and awe she felt as she held him for the first time, describing the bond between them as unbreakable.

On this day, at 1:15 in the early morning, I heard your first cry, I felt your warmth as you were placed on my chest. Your natural birth, 37 years ago, left me exhausted yet invigorated. I couldn't take my eyes off you. Counting every tiny toe, every little finger, Lynn wrote on Instagram.

My tiny baby boy, my firstborn. Your hands wide open, long legs dangling. 2.75kg, 54cm. So perfect, so full of promise, you left me in awe. In that moment, my heart changed forever you made me a mother. I was yours, and you were mine. A bond unbreakable, an infinite love, she continued.
