Wynberg Court Fatal Shooting Suspects Bail Hearing Postponed

wynberg court fatal shooting suspects bail hearing postponed

The case against a 35-year-old woman linked to the fatal shooting at the Wynberg Magistrates Court has been postponed to April 23, 2025, for a bail application. She made a brief appearance, following the shooting of a 50-year-old man, who was gunned down inside the court building last April 7, 2025.

The accused was apprehended on Saturday. According to the state, the woman was allegedly the mastermind.

On Tuesday a 50-year-old man believed to be a taxi owner was gunned down inside the court building. According to the state, the accused has conspired with gang members to execute the deceased. National Prosecuting Authority NPA spokesperson, Eric Ntabazalila, says more charges could be added to the murder rap sheet.

Her case has been postponed to the 23rd of April. One for us to get more information for bail application, for us to collect more evidential material. Three, for us to confirm the schedule. We believe at this stage its a schedule 6. The reason we say that is that the evidence we have now points that she organised and recruited the members of the Junky Funky Kids to assassinate the deceased who was shot in this court, Ntabazalila explains.

The police say they have arrested a second suspect in connection with the incident. Acting Western Cape Police Commisioner, Bongani Maqashalala, says they have identified four more suspects.
