Wolves Cunha Gets Ban Cut After Offering Guard New Glasses
An offer from Wolves forward Matheus Cunha to purchase new glasses for a security guard after a post-match altercation led an independent disciplinary panel to reduce his suspension from three matches to two.
The Brazilian received a two-match ban after clashing with Ipswichs security staff members following his team's 2-1 defeat against their relegation rivals at Molineux on December 14.
According to the panels report, Cunha elbowed a man and "knocked his glasses from his face, causing them to break."
The report stated that the 'starting point" should be a three-match suspension to reflect the seriousness of the offence.
However, it noted: "The commission agreed that Cunhas acceptance of the charge, his prompt personal apology, the offer to cover the cost of new glasses, and his clean disciplinary history, were mitigating factors."
