In a significant move to bolster international cooperation, Premier Alan Winde has signed a new Memorandum of Understanding MoU between the Western Cape Government and the Regional Council of Bourgogne-Franche-Comte, reaffirming a partnership that has flourished since 2002, reports Cape town Etc .

This latest MoU will extend collaboration for another five years, transitioning from its traditional focus on agriculture to encompass critical areas like economic development, climate change mitigation, public health and innovation capabilities.

Winde emphasised that these priority areas must be implemented with urgency, particularly in creating job opportunities and enhancing the economies of both regions.

'In times of geopolitical uncertainty, further solidifying international partnerships such as the one we concluded with the Regional Council of Bourgogne-Franche-Comte provides much-needed stability.

'The Western Cape embodies this stability and remains committed to deepening relations with nations and regions that share our priorities,' Winde stated.
