Western Cape Praises Mossel Bay K9 Unit For Drug, Crime Successes
The Western Cape government has commended the Mossel Bay Municipality for the success of its K9 Unit, which has made significant progress since its launch last year.
The unit, which was relaunched this week with nearly double the number of Belgian Malinois dogs and handlers, is one of three K9 units in the province.
It has been instrumental in securing major drug busts and tackling other criminal activities, assisting the SAPS and municipal law enforcement in joint operations along the Garden Route and Little Karoo.
Provincial Police Oversight and Community Safety Minister Anroux Marais says, "We congratulate them on their K9 unit. it is fantastic, it comes over three years and eventually, its been implemented and its just wonderful to be here. We also want to have a K9 unit in all our incoming routes to the province to see how we can curb crime in a fantastic way."
