Western Cape Opens 2026 Grade 1 And 8 Applications Next Week

The Western Cape Education Department WCED has announced that applications for Grades One and Eight for the 2026 academic year will open on Tuesday next week.

Provincial Education Minister David Maynier confirmed that the application period will close on 15 March 2025.

Maynier urged parents to submit all required supporting documents when applying.

"Applications are to be submitted online on the WCED website. Parents who cannot access the online system can receive assistance in person at their education district, at one of our pop-up admission sites, or at the school they wish to apply to. Applying on time will help the Western Cape government to plan better for a place for your child next year. Don't wait," said Maynier.
