The Western Cape Blood Service WCBS has taken a commendable step forward with the launch of its first-ever charity initiative, 'The Extra Drop,' to benefit local charities in the province , reports Cape town Etc .

The charity programme aims to enhance blood donation efforts in the region and extend donors goodwill, directly benefiting local charities within the province.

We are incredibly excited to launch The Extra Drop. Every donation can now be a stepping stone to building stronger communities and supporting our most vulnerable citizens. It's a fantastic way to turn one good deed into many, says Michelle Vermeulen, head of Marketing and Public Relations at the WCBS .

With each two-month period dedicated to a different charity, the initiative kicks off with The League of Friends of the Blind LOFOB, an organisation committed to empowering individuals with visual impairments.

'The Extra Drop, donors can help fund initiatives that address issues such as healthcare, education, poverty alleviation, early childhood development, humanitarian work, people with disabilities, and animal welfare across the Western Cape,' Vermeulen said.
