The Los Angeles Chargers Week 16 home game against the Denver Broncos has been flexed to Thursday night, December 19, from its original date of Sunday, December 22. This is the first time a game has been moved to Thursday night since the NFLs policy change, which allows such changes with at least 28 days' notice for games in Weeks 13-17. Under this policy, teams can appear more than once in Amazon Prime Video's 16-game package, although only two games can be flexed per season in the five-week period.
The shift means the Cleveland Browns vs. Cincinnati Bengals game will now take place on Sunday afternoon. Despite hiring Jim Harbaugh as coach, the Chargers initially had no Thursday games when the schedule was released.
This is the Chargers' second flex to prime time this season their previous flex was for their December 8 game against Kansas City. Currently, the Chargers are on a four-game winning streak with a 7-3 record and are set to play Baltimore on Monday Night Football. Meanwhile, the Denver Broncos, with a 6-5 record, previously had a Thursday night game on October 17, defeating the Saints 33-10, and have a Monday night game against Cleveland on December 2.
