The South African Weather Services has issued a level two warning for disruptive winds from Tuesday evening into tomorrow in some parts of KwaZulu-Natal. They say the level 4 warning for severe thunderstorms remains in place for today.

The provincial Department of Cooperative Governance has confirmed the death of one person in the Mooi-Mpofana Local Municipality in uMgungundlovu in a lightning strike yesterday.

Three others suffered critical injuries. Weather forecaster Ayanda Nsele says temperatures are expected to improve later in the week.

We still have 80 chance of rain for today, and 60 in the north. We also have disruptive rain, yellow level 4 alert, for the south eastern parts of the province, mainly along the south coast region. We also have damaging winds alerts, yellow level 2 for the coast of KZN, from tonight into tomorrow morning whereby we are expecting quite strong winds with speeds of 70 to 80 km per hour, that might affect sea operations tonight into tomorrow."
