Water Shortages Dampen Festive Spirit In Ditsobotla Municipality

Residents of Lichtenburg, located in the troubled Ditsobotla Local Municipality in the North West, are expressing frustration as chronic water shortages disrupt their festive season plans. The water crisis is worsening not only in Lichtenburg but also in nearby areas such as Coligny and Blydeville.

Many communities within the Ngaka Modiri Molema District Municipality have been without water for weeks due to dysfunctional water infrastructure. Residents are deeply upset, saying the water shortages are ruining their ability to enjoy the festive season as they normally would.

One resident highlighted the challenges: "If we dont have water in our tank, we cant accommodate our families during the festive season. How are we going to attend to them?" The ongoing water problems are leaving many unable to host relatives and celebrate the season as they had hoped.
