Water, Food To Stilfontein Illegal Miners To Be Cut Off On Weekends

Illegal miners at Shaft 11 of a mine in Stilfontein, North West, will no longer receive food and water on weekends.

This was confirmed by Adele Myburgh, the spokesperson for the provincial police.

The exact number of illegal miners still working underground is unclear.

On Monday morning, six illegal miners, all from Mozambique, emerged from the shaft of the old and abandoned Buffelsfontein Gold Mine.

Myburgh also mentioned that there has been a change in a High Court order in Pretoria regarding the delivery of emergency aid to these miners.
