Police in the Western Cape have arrested two suspects in connection with the murder of a 64-year-old woman who was shot and killed allegedly over a protection fee in Kraaifontein in Cape Town.

SAPS spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Malcolm Pojie says the manhunt to trace the suspects has been ongoing for the past three weeks.

Pojie says the suspects were arrested yesterday on a farm at Klapmuts in the Cape Winelands during a takedown operation.

He says the duo face charges related to murder and house robbery.

For the past three weeks, various leads and information received and pursued led the investigation team across the province, culminating into the arrests of the two fugitives. The two, 29 and 33 years old, were found in possession of an unlicensed firearm which had been linked to a house robbery which was perpetrated in Kraaifontein last month. The possibility that more charges could be added, is not excluded, adds Pojie.
