W Cape Agriculture Welcomes Ban Lift Of Vegetable Exports To Botswana
The Western Cape government has welcomed the gradual lifting of the ban on vegetable exports to Botswana.
Provincial Minister of Agriculture, Dr Ivan Meyer says the unbanning will encourage fair trade between SADC partners in a mutually beneficial relationship.
Botswana will be lifting the ban in two phases on about 16 vegetable types like pumpkin, broccoli, sweet potatoes and green beans among others.
The second phase of the un-banning is expected from the first of April. The Botswana government in 2022 imposed the ban in order to protect its domestic farmers and reduce reliance on imported vegetables.
