Michy Batshuayi and Victor Osimhen played together for the first time as a forward partnership for Galatasaray in their 1-0 win over Bodrumspor on Saturday. This season, Galatasaray's regular strike duo had been Mauro Icardi and Osimhen, but Icardi suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury just before the international break, sidelining him for the rest of the season.
In the match against Bodrumspor, coach Orkan Buruk initially played Osimhen as the main striker with Dries Mertens just behind him. However, after Metehan Baltaci was injured in the first half, Batshuayi was substituted in, and the two forwards formed a new attacking partnership. Mertens was pushed further into midfield to accommodate the change.
Batshuayi scored the only goal of the game in the 54th minute, securing all three points for Galatasaray, though the team lacked their usual fluidity due to the tactical adjustments. After the match, Batshuayi expressed his readiness to continue partnering with Osimhen in attack, believing that they complement each other well.
