Vakhegula Ready For The Bi-annual International Grannies Tournament

Female elderly citizens and football players have expressed happiness in taking part in the bi-annual international grannies tournament being held at Nkowankowa Stadium, outside Tzaneen in Limpopo.

The four-day tournament is featuring 22 teams from USA, Mozambique, France and the United Kingdom amongst others.

It will conclude on Saturday.

Some grannies taking part in the tournament say it is crucial for their health.

"I feel very good and relaxed participating in this tournament. Im so relaxed that Im showcasing my hidden talent. I feel great meeting and playing against other grannies, and Im proud to be the goalkeeper for my team from South Africa. Today is very fun, and I am happy to be heading onto the soccer pitch to play for Vakhegula Vakhegula. I will represent them well and take it seriously," says one of the grannies.
