The University of the Western Cape UWC says it will address students food insecurity to honour the legacy of the late former Chancellor Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
His 93rd birthday was celebrated on Monday.
The Universitys spokesperson, Carmel Roberts says they have established a food bank with the aim of supporting students who do not have funding.
The Desmond Tutu Intellectual Property Trust has endorsed an initiative launched by the Central University of Technology CUT in the Free State.
This aims to combat food insecurity on campus by establishing a food bank to support unfunded students.
