Urban Development Issues Discussed At World Forum

The 12th World Urban Economic Forum has kicked off, marking its second return to Africa, this time in Cairo, Egypt.

Today marks the first day of attendees are engaging in sessions and workshops, exchanging insights and ideas on various urban development issues.

Free State Human Settlement MEC Saki Mokoena will be participating in discussions on housing for sustainable future for cities and communities.

He says such forums will assist in dealing with the housing crises facing the country.

"You will remember that we launched what we called smart cities which are basically integrated areas which seek to achieve climate sustainability using energy efficiency. It is really part of us trying to embrace the paradigm shift taking place throughout the world and we are here to learn from best practices."
