Unidentified Woman Found Dead At Durbans North Beach

Police in KwaZulu-Natal are investigating the death of an unidentified woman whose body was found at Durbans north beach this morning.

National Sea Rescue Institute NSRI spokesperson, Craig Lambinon says the discovery follows reports of two people appearing lifeless in the water at South Beach.

Lambinon says the search is ongoing for the second person.

"The South African Police Services, Police Search and Rescue and Metro Police Search and Rescue, had responded to the scene where two people appearing to be lifeless, could be seen afloat at the back breakers. Our NSRI Durban duty crew responded to our NSRI Durban station 5 rescue base where the NSRI rescue craft, Spirit of Surfski six was launched while our NSRI Durban rescue vehicle and NSRI Durban rescue swimmers responded. On arrival at the scene, a Metro Police Search and Rescue diver was in the water searching in the surf zone. The search area had shifted towards Durban North Beach."
