Uj Src Urges Priority Given To Students Facing Registration Delays

The University of Johannesburgs UJ Student Representative Council SRC is calling on the institution to prioritise students who initially received acceptance letters but lost their placement due to delayed registration.

This comes as UJ prepares to reopen available spaces.

With over 300 000 matriculants achieving Bachelor passes , institutions of higher learning are facing pressure to accommodate the influx of new students.

Central Student Representative Council Academic Officer, Lehumo Dibakoane says UJ is indirectly contributing to students across the country, taking unintended gap years.

We also raised it in the meeting that because they said that there will be spaces that will be opened up and then we raised the issue of how about those that were initially admitted and lost their space because they were not able to register, how about they now prioritize them as and how they come. And then they said that it is an unfair process.
