The Pretoria High Court has ordered the Department of Employment and Labour to immediately suspend a contractor running the departments UIF online services.
That means that the service is suspended till further notice.
UIF commissioner Tebogo Maruping says that this is an inconvenience for those that solely rely on the online service.
Maruping elaborates more on the matter.
Its an unfortunate inconvenience that as a department as UIF will have to go through this but its also an inconvenience for South Africans who wouldve used our online platforms. Given the risk that wouldve been exposed should we continue using the online platform, that theres no maintenance and support, for South Africans its disastrous. We wouldnt want to expose South Africans to that kind of risk and thats why we pull it down and we are pleading to South Africans that wouldve ordinarily used our online platforms to visit our centres.
