The Verulam Regional Court north of Durban has sentenced two men to a term of life imprisonment for each of the three counts of rape they committed in 2023 in Ndwedwe, KwaZulu-Natal.
In a statement, the National Prosecuting Authority says that the complainant and her friends were at a tuck shop when she recognised the accused who she admitted to knowing.
Following a stay over at a homestead in the area, the complainant ran into the accused on her way home the next morning.
They proceeded to rape her and left her lying on the road.
The court heard that the complainant had to undergo surgery due to the injuries she sustained during the rape.
