Two Gang Members Convicted For 7-year-old Emaan Solomons' Murder

Two gang members have been convicted for the murder of seven-year-old Emaan Solomons from Ocean View, who was killed in February 2020.

National Prosecuting Authority NPA spokesperson Eric Ntabazalila states that the child was struck by a stray bullet when Eben Basson and Chivargo Fredericks opened fire at a rival gang member.

Emaan and her friends were playing in the street near her home at the time of the shooting.

Ntabazalila says the state intends to seek life imprisonment for Basson and Fredericks when they are sentenced in the Western Cape High Court.

The two were found guilty of murder, four counts of attempted murder, and the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
