Two Cape Town Runners Hospitalised After Alleged Drunk Driver Lost Control

A female and male runner was rushed to hospital after an allegedly drunk driver ploughed into them on Victoria Road in the Atlantic Seaboard around 7:40am, reports Cape town Etc .
One of the runners was subsequently flung over the wall of the road as a result of the hit.
According to Ward 54 Councillor Nicola Jowell, who took to her social media platform , the driver reportedly lost control of his vehicle while driving down the stretch, causing him to hit the two runners.
A fire department truck was used to rescue the women down the embankment, said Jowell. She is critical but stable thanks to the medical doctor who was running close by and rushed to assist. The second runner is believed to have a broken leg.
Jowell added that the male runner has since been checked into the hospital and seems to be okay. The woman who was flung is still being assessed, but signs are looking positive.
