Tshwane Mayor Warns Residents To Brace Themselves For Tariff Hikes
The City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality has told residents to brace themselves for new tariff hikes which will be implemented soon.
This as the city struggles to increase its revenue collection.
Briefing the media in Pretoria yesterday, Tshwane Mayor Dr Nasiphi Moya said: Alongside our efforts to table a fully funded budget we have prioritised keeping tariffs as fair and affordable as possible, ensuring that residents are not burdened with unreasonable increases.
The proposed adjustments are as follows for property rates, we are proposing an induction of 4 which we introduce to cushion the impact of increased property values under the new general election role. Electricity we are proposing a 12 increase which is kept below Eskoms 12,7 bulk tariff increase.
