President-elect Donald Trump has announced his nomination of Brooke Rollins as the next U.S. Secretary of Agriculture. Rollins, a former White House aide and current president and CEO of the America First Policy Institute, will succeed Tom Vilsack, President Joe Biden's agriculture secretary. The nomination, which completes Trump's selection of executive agency heads, must be confirmed by the Republican-controlled Senate when Trump takes office on January 20, 2025.
Rollins, an attorney with a background in agricultural development from Texas AampM University, has been a longtime associate of Trump. She served as White House domestic policy chief during his first presidency and has extensive experience in both nonprofit and government leadership. Rollins expressed her gratitude for the nomination, stating it would be an honor to advocate for America's farmers and agricultural communities.
This nomination marks the finalization of Trump's executive branch department heads, with a few traditionally Cabinet-level positions still to be filled.
