Travel Bugs: Flyers Say Turkish Airlines May Have A Bed Bug Problem

Turkish Airlines, one of the globes biggest airlines, has recently come under public scrutiny after stories of several passengers encountering bed bugs onboard separate flights last year began surfacing, reports Cape town Etc .

According to their accounts, the biting pests were found on seats, blankets and falling from the overhead compartments, and the airline did little to address their complaints.

In March 2024, 36-year-old Patience Titcombe noticed a small bug crawling on her seat when she got up to use the restroom while flying from Johannesburg to Istanbul, reported The New York Times NYT.

I almost flicked it away, she told the publication. But my friend stopped me and said, Thats a bedbug,

After photographing the incident, Titcombe and her friend addressed the flight attendant, who disposed of the bug but also reportedly dismissed their concern.
