Transport Minister Asked To Waive Toll Fees At Oribi Toll Plaza

KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport, Siboniso Duma has asked Transport Minister Barbara Creecy , to waive toll fees at the Oribi Toll Plaza after the Umzimkhulu River bridge was closed two weeks ago for repairs.

A response to the request is expected tomorrow.

This follows heavy rains that caused one of the supports to shift, making it unsafe to use.

The R190-million repair is expected to take six months.

Since the closure residents living north of Port Shepstone have had to use the N2 and pay toll fees to travel to town, which is R40 for cars.
