Transport Department Assures Or Tambo Has Enough Fuel For February
The Department of Transport has assured that OR Tambo International Airport will have sufficient fuel stocks in February.
A plan, developed by Airports Company South Africa Acsa and supported by multiple stakeholders, aims to stabilise fuel supply.
On Sunday, the department reported that OR Tambo International Airport had 20.1 million litres of fuel available at the start of February.
Since 28 January, an additional 59 million litres have been injected into the supply pipeline, with delivery to Kempton Park expected by 6 February.
This volume may necessitate the removal of the current restrictions on airlines and bring the fuel supply closer to normal operations, the department said in a statement on Sunday, according to The Citizen .
