KRC Genk head of football, Dimitri de Conde has revealed Paul Onuachu rejected the chance to return to the club.
Onuachu has been frozen out at Southampton after returning from a loan spell at Turkish club, Trabzonspor.
The 30-year-old is desperate to join Trabzonspor on a permanent transfer but the Black Sea Storm are finding it difficult to meet Southamptons demand.
The Saints are looking to recoup the €15 they paid to sign the Nigeria international in January 2023.
De Conde said Genk were interested in bringing Onuachu back to Belgium but the forward was not keen on a return to the Jupiler League.
