Virgin Group plans to raise 700 million R16,6 billion to launch cross-Channel rail services that would compete with Eurostar.

The high-frequency service between London and both Paris and Brussels could launch in the next ten years, according to Theguardian.com .

Eurostar services have operated across the Channel for 30 years.

China has launched the worlds fastest train, which reaches speeds of 400kph, with a peak speed of 450kph.

The new train is currently undergoing tests in Beijing, according to Express.co.uk .
