The narrow streets of Lisbon are feeling the pinch. Severe congestion caused by overtourism is riling residents.
According to Euronews, the congestion comes as a result of too many tuk-tuks on the streets. They are used primarily by tourists as a form of transport.
A local activist organisation, QSintra has called on the city authorities to reveal its plan for accommodating increased overnight stays, relating to the construction of a new hotel, and for limits on the number of cars and visitors allowed in the city.
Lisbons mayoral office has suggested limiting the number of tuk-tuks in the city, however the measure is still under discussion.
