Three individuals narrowly avoided injury when a light aircraft crashed into a streetlight in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape, on Thursday afternoon, Cape {town} Etc reports.
The aircraft, identified as a Piper Lance or Saratoga, was making an emergency landing around 4pm.
According to Captain Andre Beetge, a 75-year-old pilot reported that the plane was running low on fuel and had to land on Ysterhout Street in Algoa Park.
Beetge explained, The 75-year-old male pilot alleged that the aircraft was low on fuel and he was forced to make an emergency landing in Ysterhout Street in Algoa Park.
He further noted that a pothole and a speed bump contributed to the aircrafts deviation, causing it to crash into a light pole.
