tmnp declares crime reports on table mountain misleading

Table Mountain National Park has countered recent reports of escalating criminal activity on the mountain, labelling them as misleading, Cape {town} Etc reports.

The park emphasised that such negative reports hinder efforts to promote the destination and attract visitors, EWN reports.

The park stated it has partnered with the South African Police Service (SAPS) and the City of Cape Town to combat criminal activity in the area, particularly addressing the muggings that occurred on the mountain during the tourism season.

Recent reports indicate rising concerns about crime in Table Mountain following the discovery of the body of Brook Cecilia Cheuvront, a 20-year-old American student.

In response to these incidents, SANParks emphasised safety while highlighting a decline in crime within the park.
