Thorup Surprised By Onyekas Super Eagles Snub

Augsburg manager, Jess Thorup has said the decision to leave out Frank Onyeka from Nigerias squad for last months 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe came as a surprise to him.

Onyeka, a regular with the Super Eagles was omitted from the 23-man squad by head coach, Eric Chelle.

The midfielder was initially named in an enlarged provisional squad for the qualifiers.

The former FC Midtylland player has featured regularly for Augsburg this season.

Thorup insisted that he is certain Onyeka will be called up for subsequent games.
