The hotel has been part of South Africas hotel industry for 125 years and has been been captivating visitors since 1899.

Mount Nelson, also known as The Nellie, was recognised in the presence of industry-defining hotels from across six continents at an awards ceremony at the Guildhall in London.

The iconic hotel is skirted by mountain and metropolis and fuses its 125 years of heritage with 21st century relevance in the urban heart of the city, surrounded by the countrys leading designer boutiques and buzzing cafes.

Commenting on the win, Tiago Moraes Sarmento, area managing director, Belmond Southern Africa, said their daily focus is on how they make guests and staff feel.
