Thabazimbi Municipality Remains A Hung Council After By-election
The Electoral Commission in Limpopo says the outcome of the by-elections means the Thabazimbi Local Municipality remains in the same situation as before the poll , a hung council.
Provincial Electoral Officer Nkaro Mateta has announced the results of the ward by-elections held on Wednesday.
Just like in the 2021 local government elections, Wednesdays by-elections did not produce an outright majority.
The by-elections came after the dissolution of the municipal council.
"The results are bringing us back to a hung council, none of these political parties obtained 50 plus one percent, so we still have a hung council as if we did not do anything to really remedy the situation because the Premier and the NCOP dissolved this municipality based on the fact that nobody had a majority. This municipality had serious challenges," says Mateta.
