TFG's Bash platform, which is set to break even or be profitable two years earlier than forecast, has bought the South African domain name of the now-defunct online fashion retailer Zando.
Africa-focused ecommerce group Jumia Technologies, which is listed in New York, announced in October that it was shutting its Zando platform in SA after more than 10 years in the country. After the announcement, the website Zando.co.za positioned itself for the exit, announcing an 'everything must go' sale.
The website address now redirects to the Bash site, with a pop-up stating that 'Zando has closed and endorses Bash as a new shopping destination'.
In the linked frequently-asked-questions section, Bash clarifies that it 'does not own Zando', and that it had merely purchased the Zando online domain.
Zando accounts, order histories and invoices are not available on Bash, and Zando gift cards cannot be redeemed on the site either. Bash directed consumers with queries on Zando returns and pending deliveries to email zando.servicejumia.com.
