Police have recovered the body of a 17-year-old teen who went missing on Saturday at Victoria Bay near George, Cape {town} Etc reports.
According to the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) - Victoria Bay, the teenager went missing alongside a 20-year-old man while swimming on Saturday around 5:55pm at Victoria Bay.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) had activated NSRI Wilderness duty crew following reports of two swimmers in distress, caught in rip currents.
George Fire and Rescue services and WC Government Health EMS rescue squad also responded.
'Multiple calls were by that stage being received by eyewitnesses reporting the drowning in progress,' the NSRI said in a statement.
