Western Cape Police Commissioner Thembisile Patekile has urged the public to report crimes such as extortion through a toll-free hotline . Accounts of such crimes are still being posted on social media.
Provincial police spokesperson Malcolm Pojie says a task team has been established to monitor, investigate and implement strategies to deal with the escalation of extortion-related crimes.
