The Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company (TMACC) attracted many visitors on Monday morning, September 2, when the iconic site reopened after a seven-week maintenance period.

Western Cape Premier Alan Winde said, the cableway, visited by over a million tourists every year, sold 7 000 tickets on Monday. Last year, we broke all tourism records with tourists coming into the Western Cape.

This years maintenance will improve visitors experiences with safety and quality upgrades. Weve replaced the track ropes, overhauled the hanging and running gear and adhered to strict original equipment manufacturer specifications, said Selma Hercules , Executive Director of TMACC. Its all part of our ongoing commitment to safety, quality and excellence.'

Reopening the cableway at the beginning of South Africas Tourism Month affords the TMACC a chance to shine, said Hercules. We invite locals and international visitors to rediscover the breathtaking beauty of Table Mountain and enjoy the best views in the city from our state-of-the-art cableway.

The first car up the mountain leaves at 08h30 and the final ride is at 18h00. Due to ongoing roadworks, visitors using the Tafelberg Road access are advised to use the free park-and-ride shuttle service from lower Kloof Nek parking to the lower station.
