Swissport has launched a new facility for unaccompanied pets at Johannesburgs OR Tambo International Airport in South Africa.
Separated from the general air cargo warehouse, the Swissport Pet Lounge offers a calm environment for travelling pets.
The facility has amenities such as air-conditioning, water and designated spaces for animals waiting for their flights or collection by their owners or agents. It includes an acceptance area for checking animals and their travel documents and separate rooms where pets await their flights or handling agents.

Special regulationsThe lounge has trained personnel who ensure compliance with the International Air Transport Associations Live Animals Regulations and work closely with South Africas state veterinary service to manage the safety and wellbeing of pets.
