Sweet Guluva Lands First Major Gig After Winning Big Brother Mzansi

Big Brother Mzansi Season 5 winner Sweet Guluva, whose real name is Akhona Mbele, will be the MC at the Durban Music Festival set for 3 May 2025 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
This will be his first major gig since winning the popular reality show - and R2 million with it.
Sweet Guluva to MC Durban Music FestivalEvent organisers, Blue Screens Entertainment, said they were excited to get the reality star as a big attraction to the festival.
" Sweet Guluva is a man in demand at the moment, and when the opportunity for him to be part of our show came through, we couldn't resist. So, we are excited to have secured him for the Durban Music Fest ," they said on Saturday 29 March.
The festival will showcase various music genres, including Amapiano , Maskandi and hip hop. The lineup includes global rap star Rick Ross and South African stars such as Nasty C, Gatsheni and Khuzani.
In addition to offering an unforgettable musical experience, the Durban Music Fest will mark the 30 th anniversary of South Africas freedom, highlighting the countrys cultural evolution and the role of music in bridging communities, organisers said.
In the run-up to the event, Blue Screens Entertainment are running a series of community activation campaigns. Recently, they held a rap competition that attracted 50 budding rappers and over 2,000 participants.
It was won by Xavier Thomas, who will get a publishing, distribution and management contract. He will also appear in Rick Ross upcoming music video.
Event tickets are available via Computicket starting at R100 per person. Ticket holders will be entered into a draw for a chance to win a brand-new vehicle sponsored by Kia. Rick Ross will announce the winner live on stage.
