Three suspected rhino poachers have been arrested in Pongola in northern KwaZulu-Natal.
Police spokesperson Robert Netshiunda says the suspects were travelling from Hluhluwe to a game farm in the Magudu area, where it is believed they intended to poach rhinos.
Netshiunda says during the search of the vehicle, police found a disassembled hunting rifle with a silencer and seven rounds of ammunition.
Suspects vehicle was intercepted on the R66 road in the Pongola precinct. During the search, police found a hunting rifle with a silencer and seven rounds of ammunition. A licensed pistol was also found in the possession of a suspect. The suspects 33 and 40 were due to appear in the Pongola Magistrates Court on charges of possession of a firearm and the possibility of more charges being added on cannot be ruled out.
