Suspected Arson Sparks Multiple Fires In Upper Tokai

Multiple wildfires, believed to have been deliberately started, have burned through sections of Upper Tokai and along the Constantiaberg overnight. The Table Mountain National Park TMNP Fire Department and other emergency crews have been on the scene since late Friday evening.
At 12:30am, the Ward 71 WhatsApp group alerted residents to the unfolding situation, confirming that three fires had ignited in the Tokai precinct, reaching level 4 intensity. TMNP fire resources and law enforcement officers were deployed to manage the scene and monitor for any further suspicious activity.
'While these fires do not pose a threat to neighbouring communities, we urge residents to report any suspicious activities,' the message read. The emergency number for reports is 0861 106 417.

9:28pm - Two new wildfires were reported in Upper Tokai. Fire crews were immediately dispatched.
