Support For Western Cape Exporters Facing New Us Tariffs

As global trade dynamics shift, Wesgro, the Western Cape Tourism, Trade and Investment Promotion Agency, is stepping up to provide crucial support for local exporters navigating the uncertain landscape of new tariffs imposed by the United States.
CEO Wrenelle Stander highlighted the importance of the provinces exporters in bolstering economic growth, innovation, and job creation across a variety of sectors.
In 2024, exports from the Western Cape to the US reached an impressive R16.2 billion, accounting for 8 of the provinces total exports.
This financial footprint underscores the significance of the US as the Western Capes second largest export market, encompassing a diverse array of products including citrus fruits, flat-rolled iron, wine, fruit juices, and vital vehicle and aerospace components.
Stander stated, As the provincial agency responsible for Tourism, Trade, and Investment Promotion Facilitation, we want to ensure our stakeholders are well-supported in adapting to new tariffs. Our focus is to ensure that businesses can navigate these challenges with confidence and support.
